Stones ( e.g., rocks -like agates- and gemstones) are made up of several minerals combined in one mass and they tend to be rounder, smoother and denser.

Cleansing your crystals on a regular basis is crucial in order to free them from any negative or stagnant energy they may have absorbed. This is why it’s especially important to cleanse your crystal(s) when you first purchase them - after they’ve been sitting in a store for an indeterminable amount of time.

To cleanse your crystals and gemstones, try soaking them in water with some sea salt, or submerge them in fresh earth (e.g., under sand or soil). You can also leave them in direct sunlight or try some white light visualisation techniques. Moonlight is another effective cleansing method as well!
